This presentation will discuss the poetic work ‘Peep-hole’ (Olho Mágico), which relies on the videographic means to propose questions about voyeurism in contemporaneity. We took the term scopophilia as an operational concept, coined by Freud, and appropriate the peephole device as a subject of a poetic research. This device has the potential to transcend its basic function [provide security to the home] to become a poetic mediator, from the moment that allows the observer to satisfy his scopic pulsion in front of scenes [trivial] but that incite a voyeuristic desire. This poetic is part of my MA in Arts research, in line of the Practices and Processes in Visual Arts at the Universidade Federal Uberlândia, held between 2010 to 2012, with the title: ‘Poéticas do Olhar: escopofilia e panoptismo em uma produção videográfica’, under the guidance of Professor. Dr. Beatriz Rauscher.
